18th Maccabiah - Rapid Chess Tournament
Participation
1. Twelve players, personally invited by the Organizing Committee, will participate in this round-robin tournament.
Playing Conditions
2. Each player shall have 15 minutes for the whole game plus an increment of 5 seconds per move. The games shall be held in accordance with the new FIDE Laws of Chess (including Appendix B), which are about to come into effect on July 1, 2009.
Arbiters
3. The Chief Arbiter will be IA Almog Burstein. The Organizing Committee shall appoint as many Deputy and Assistant arbiters as necessary.
An Appeal against the decision of the Chief Arbiter must be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter, within one hour of the original decision. The appeal shall be accompanied by a fee to be determined by the Organizing Committee, which shall be returned if the appeal is successful.
Appeals Committee
4. Before the beginning of the first round an Appeals Committee shall be set up. The Appeals Committee shall consist of three members of three different countries. No member of the Appeals Committee shall take part in a decision involving a player of his own country.
Tie-break system
5. The final ranking of the tournament is determined by the number of points scored. If there is a tie, it shall be broken according to the following priorities (a) The result(s) between the players involved, (b) Number of wins, (c) Sonneborn-Berger system and (d) Sudden death game where White has 5 minutes, Black – 4 minutes, and a draw shall count as a win for Black.
18th Maccabiah - Blitz Chess Tournament
Participation
1. Twelve players players, personally invited by the Organizing Committee, will participate in this double-round-robin tournament.
Playing Schedule
2. Each player shall have 4 minutes for the whole game, plus an increment of 2 seconds per move. The games shall be played using the DGT clocks. The games shall be held in accordance with the new FIDE Laws of Chess (including Appendix C), which are about to come into effect on July 1, 2009.

3. The Chief Arbiter will be IA Almog Burstein. The Organizing Committee shall appoint as many Deputy and Assistant arbiters as necessary.
