The 18th Maccabiah Games will be held on July 12-23, 2009.

The Maccabiah Games have included chess tournaments for more than 30 years. Now, especially for the 18th Maccabiah Games, we have organized for the first time a super-tournament, with the participation of elite chessplayers from all over the world.

The Festival will include four main events:

• International Super-Torunament, featuring top players from all over the world such as Boris Gelfand (Israel), Judit Polgar (Hungary), Pavel Eljanov (Ukraine), Evgeniy Najer (Russia), Alexander Beliavsky (Slovenia) etc.
• International Invitational Chess Tournaments, Norm opportunity for top players.
• International Open Tournament.
• International Youth Tournament, for players who were born between 1991 and 1994.
• Simultaneous Chess Exhibitions , GM's will play against many opponents at the same time.
